Amanda Pearson’s book was born from a passion and enthusiasm for the Lincolnshire Fens where she lives, and a desire to rid the area of the of the negative misconception, held by too many, that the area is ‘flat and boring’.
Flat and Boring There Isn’t It? is a collection of light-hearted prose, amusing anecdotes, illustrative poetry and photographs. Together they bring to life the surroundings, the wildlife, and what it’s like to live out in the Lincolnshire Fens, with the aim of introducing people to a part of the country they may well have otherwise overlooked, and encouraging even those more local to maybe view the area in a new light.
“It was such an adventure to learn of such a different lifestyle than we experience in the States, and yet there were several things that we both have in common. Amanda has a gift of storytelling which provides the reader an enjoyable picture of what she is describing through prose, poetry and haiku’s. Grab a glass of wine and settle in for a glimpse into the charming world of the Fen.” Kim Andresen, Mesa, Arizona, USA
“What a delight! Reading Amanda’s book is like taking a European vacation from your easy chair. Essays, photos, poems and that literary form I never mastered, haiku, describe and reveal a part of the UK this Yank has never known about. And log fire season’s Christmas card tableau of whisky glasses and sofas will stay in my mind for quite a while.” Ana-Maria Troast
